The smell of smoke still hangs in the air as a stunned family of five stares numbly at what was their home.  It is past midnight and as firefighters still work, a Red Cross volunteer offers comfort in  a gentle touch and the promise of a place to stay and a hot meal.  And because the Red Cross is ready to help when Help Can't Wait, another family begins putting the pieces together again.

The provision of disaster relief has been a core and premier service of the American Red Cross since its founding.  By "adopting" a day of disaster, you or your company can provide the financial support needed to cover the costs (direct and indirect) of providing disaster services to the community for one day, a week or even a month.

YES!  I want to help provide assistance and comfort to families who are displaced by disasters – such as single-family house fires, apartment blazes, blizzards, or flooding.
